Description
This invitation is to tender for work towards a Heritage Sector Workforce Diversity project. In line with point 2 on Historic England's Corporate Plan, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equality (IDE), the Inclusion team is developing a suite of resources and interventions for the sector, in particular to fulfil point 2.8 - "Develop a programme of interventions to increase diversity in the sector including building capacity and capability and developing and sharing our evidence and insight." One strand of this is to provide a model, and supporting resources, on how to measure workforce diversity across the sector.
Auditing and monitoring workforce diversity is an important tool for IDE. Auditing workforce diversity can highlight where there are gaps in representation and help uncover why these gaps exist - identifying barriers and blockages. It can help prioritise resources towards actions to remove these barriers, and provide development opportunities for organisations to take concrete and specific actions. Working to remove these barriers not only improves inclusivity and accessibility, it also improves working conditions for all staff - as well as service users, visitors, volunteers depending on the type of organisation and its audience or customer base.
