Description

UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is planning to award a contract for the provision of CLARIOstar PLUS plate readers, to BMG LABTECH.

The requirement is for UKHSA's Porton Technology Development Group (TDG) and the plate readers will be used as part of their work to determine and test novel antimicrobial compounds, develop fluorescent probes to support investigation of resistance mechanisms, develop bacterial detection systems and investigate pathogenic resistance to antibiotics. These projects require testing of many different conditions using absorbance, luminescence and fluorescence methods.
UKHSA believes that the CLARIOstar PLUS plate reader is currently the only system on the market capable of meeting our specific requirement of fluorescence and luminescence detection performed by a patented linear variable filter monochromator, including having a linear variable dichroic mirror.
The plate readers also need to meet the below requirements:
• The readers must be able to read 384-well plates
• The readers must have a plate stacker component which allows for the throughput of up to 40 plates at once.
• The readers must have two injectors to enable us to read assays that have a very quick reaction time.
• The readers must have the ability to select wavelengths and bandwidths for excitation and emission from 8nm to 100nm, changeable in 1nm increments

As continuity of data acquisition also needs to be ensured, and direct comparisons between historical and new data need to be made, we require any new instruments to be compatible with current instruments and associated software.

If you feel that you can meet the above requirements, please email scientific.procurement@ukhsa.gov.uk. The closing date and time for any queries is 2nd November at 12pm.
