The play area is situated in a residential street, on a main footpath. The play area must be suitable for all children aged from 3 years up to the age of 12 years.

2.2 The Council wishes to use some the existing equipment and to install modern, high quality and accessible friendly equipment to ensure that the play area is inclusive for all children and an asset to the local community. Following consultation with local charities and local primary school children, the top items required are:

• Accessible roundabout
• Accessible multi use unit with double width slide attachment
• Sensory panels

This list is not exhaustive, and Haydon Wick Parish Council would welcome ideas and recommendations for the site.

2.3 To make use of the footpath that runs through the play area and include painted games, such as hopscotch or number snake. This is a chance for the Contractor to be innovative and provide suggestions to make the best use of the existing footprint.

2.4 Where required to repair a small amount of a two-course wet pour surface that will be rolled into the border edges. The top surface 15mm to comprise a mixture of high strength EPDM rubber granules bound together with polyurethane. The bottom course depth, according to the free fall height from the equipment should be between 60mm - 40mm depending on each area.

2.5 To ensure all the surfacing materials used are designed, manufactured, and installed to a current British Standards 1176 and 1177. Approved members of CHAS and Construction Line.

2.6 Conduct a pre installation survey to confirm the base is prepared correctly prior to the work commencing. If removal is deemed necessary, this could be done internally by our Parks & Open Spaces Team. Site visits can be arranged.

2.7 The design is a chance for the contractor to be innovative. The final designs will be agreed on award of contract.

2.8 Consideration will be given to reducing the size of the current loose fill area and installing another compliant impact absorbing surface beneath any new items of play equipment, in that area.
