Description
Attending a school breakfast club and eating a healthy breakfast can support improved attainment, behaviour, concentration and attendance, and provide a healthier start to the day for pupils.
The Department is currently investigating options for the provision of food to school-run breakfast clubs. In pursuance of this, the Department is seeking information from suppliers in order to help inform the options available to the Department in regard to how healthy food supplies can be delivered to breakfast clubs in schools across England.
The Department is therefore making available a questionnaire for interested suppliers to complete. Interested suppliers should email School.FOOD@education.gov.uk to request a copy of the questionnaire. The information received will support the Department in the development and review of future requirements which support schools in delivering breakfast provision.

The existing National School Breakfast Club programme supports schools in disadvantaged areas to establish or enhance their provision of healthy breakfasts, on a value for money basis, as well as helping these schools to make their breakfast clubs sustainable over the longer term.
The Department is currently exploring future options to support schools with accessing nutritious food provision for school breakfast clubs. This includes making it simple and cost-effective to access healthy breakfast meals. The food supplied in the programme must follow the Department's School Food Standards, and further information can be found at the link https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/standards-for-school-food-in-england
Subsequent to the responses received to the questions presented in this notice, the Department may engage further with interested suppliers and seek further information and engagement.
The value of this service is yet to be determined, and any funding invested by the Department in this aspect of breakfast provision is subject to the Spending Review. We cannot therefore provide an estimated value at this stage.
Any subsequent tender will be advertised via both OJEU and Contracts Finder and will be managed via the Department's Jaggaer e-Procurement platform. Suppliers who are not already registered on Jaggaer will need to register their company details in order to access this tender opportunity.
