Description
In late March 2020, the UK entered a period of lockdown. This was a result of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) which is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). This international pandemic began in late 2019 and continues to impact nations across the globe. The next few years will continue to challenge tourism businesses and present a new normal for consumers. Following the Governments Roadmap out of lockdown the Visit East Yorkshire (VEY) marketing campaign aims to encourage overnight bookings for autumn 2021 as well as raising awareness of the area as an option for short breaks year-round for future years. The challenge for tourism businesses will be in staying open and prospering into 2022. To ensure this, VEY have been awarded funding from East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) to launch a domestic tourism recovery campaign in Autumn 2021 to raise awareness of the wealth of holiday experiences available in East Yorkshire. The success of this campaign is therefore crucial to helping restore the economic fortunes of the area and to charting a route back from survival to recovery.
