Description

EXPERIENCE is a project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Interreg France (Channel) England Programme.

Experience is about experiential tourism to extend the visitor season and aims to capitalise on the emerging global trend for personalised and local tourism experiences which increasingly provide all-important reasons to visit.

Experiences will be designed to appeal to visitors between October and March. This will extend the tourist season and bring in money to the local economy.

In order to provide appeal to visit Norfolk in the Autumn and Winter months, the EXPERIENCE project is commissioning 5 works of art to be placed in strategic locations around the county.

Additional text

This exercise is being run in two stages and will cover 5 locations in Norfolk.
Stage 1 - Pre-Qualification
The first stage invites artists to create designs for a piece of public art based in one of five Norfolk locations. A maximum of two designs may be submitted (you must state if you can only deliver one).
Up to 18 artists will be awarded contracts worth £600 each and given three weeks, to further develop their initial concept.

Stage 2 - Assessment of the developed concept
The advanced designs will be resubmitted to a panel as part of this process. The panel will assess the final designs, selecting one artist to be commissioned for each of the five locations.
All artists must clearly describe the concept they have developed and explain carefully how it meets the creativity (70%) and logistics (30%) scoring criteria. Artists must rigorously show how the piece will be made, how it will keep to budget and how it will be made safe. They should research pricing for the final fabrication of the work and Community engagement aspects of the project (for example materials + any other costs).
As indicated above, artists will be able to bid to produce works for two areas. However, they will be able to indicate if they are only able to work on one piece.

Delivery Notes
