Description
o To deliver practical and theoretical training in Construction Skills - Painting and Decorating Courses to participants of the Black Country Impact project who wish to pursue a career in the Construction Industry. The programme is aimed at eligible 15-29 year olds who live in the Black Country and are not in employment, education or training (NEET).
o Service provider to deliver tailored and structured support across the building sector trade of Painting and Decorating. Courses are expected to last no more than 8 Weeks.
o Courses should lead to a recognised qualification and support the participant to develop a portfolio of work undertaken through working with an industry mentor for a period of no more than 6 months. These could be Level 1 or Level 2 courses.
o To gain and build on knowledge and practical skills in bricklaying, this may include but is not limited to:
? Understanding the difference between, domestic, commercial and industrial painting and decorating
? Understanding different painting techniques such as rag rolling, graining and marbling
? How to prepare different surfaces for painting and paper hanging
? Understanding the importance of team working, good communication skills plus the ability to work alone
? Safety guidelines and procedures
? Apply water and oil based products using brushes and rollers,
? How to cut around obstructions, openings and fittings
? Working on walls, ceilings, door frame, skirting etc.
o A written schedule of work to be undertaken should be produced to clearly show the steps the participant must take to meet performance standards. Progression with the portfolio should be signed off by the participant/mentor at least monthly. Regular reports should be reported to the Impact Project Key Worker
