Description

This early engagement notice is to notify the market of the Department for Education's (DfE) intention to procure a provider to develop and host a targeted pastoral support toolkit for schools and colleges, helping them to promote and support pupil and student mental health and wellbeing.

The targeted support toolkit is intended to complement DfE senior mental health lead training currently being offered to schools and colleges in England. It will help mental health / pastoral leads in education settings to refresh their approach to supporting the early Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs of pupils and students - as part of implementing or developing their whole school or college approach to mental health and wellbeing.

The toolkit is intended to help mental health / pastoral leads to consider their overall approach to addressing the range of needs in their setting. It will help leads to understand and navigate the range of potential options (including no-cost and a range of likely price-points) to provide an effective early targeted support offer that is tailored to their particular context and highlight the evidence supporting types of approaches and interventions.

We anticipate that this opportunity will be of most interest to organisations already providing online mental health and wellbeing support and resources to schools and colleges, including senior mental health lead training. The successful provider will need to develop a product that school and college users will trust and easily navigate - so that the toolkit becomes seen as an authoritative source of advice and information. To achieve this, it will need to gain the support of, and work in collaboration with, other mental health providers, experts and representative bodies, and apply user centred design principles.

The successful provider may be either one organisation, or a group of organisations working in partnership. We are keen to receive feedback from suppliers on our proposal and therefore will be hosting a market engagement webinar if we proceed to enter a formal procurement process.

Further details will be released in due course.
