Description

Phase 2a - Market Square - This phase of the Works comprises improvements to High Street South between Friars Walk and The Square involving kerb realignment, footway renewal, carriageway surfacing, traffic calming features, significant drainage attenuation installation and the provision of street furniture.

The scheme will also provide new bus stops, parking and loading facilities, cyclist facilities and a new parallel pedestrian and cyclist crossing

Phase 2b - Queensway Junction - This phase of the Works comprises the highway improvement of the existing junction of the High Street North with Queensway. The works will entail kerb realignment, footway renewal, carriageway surfacing, significant drainage attenuation installation, traffic calming, replacement traffic signals infrastructure and the provision of street furniture.

Phase 2a and 2b are to become a constituent part of a planned 20 mph zone in the future.
