Description
The existing Play Area was largely created around 2010 and much of the play equipment within the area has deteriorated significantly over recent years, largely from rotting in the timber frames. There have already been some replacements - mainly swings and a roundabout. The current facility broadly consists of two sets of play equipment, one for infants and small children, the other for juniors or older children. Each is given equal importance within the area and this equilibrium should be maintained.
The Play Area is approximately 25 metres x 72 metres in size and is surrounded by fencing, hedges and walling, whose maintenance or improvement is not part of this tender. Other than for a possible resiting to fit any proposals, seating and tables etc are also excluded from this tender.
The Council is seeking new playground equipment that will not only be attractive for children to use but will also be long lasting - probably based around metal and / or recycled plastic materials. We are also looking for ease of use and to improve accessibility for disadvantaged children. The Council has no preconceived ideas on the layout of the refurbished play area nor the equipment to be supplied other than:
• the retention of at least the recently replaced swings and roundabout; and
• the proposals should include an infant multiplay incorporating a slide, a junior multiplay, a big slide, a zip wire and a caterpillar / rope swing.
The Town Council wishes to use its funds to create the best possible play area for the local children and it is open to alternative pieces of play equipment being installed, not simply replacements of the existing facilities.
Easingwold Town Council is looking for a partner who can join with them to completely refurbish their Memorial Park children's play area to improve its useability and fun, whilst assuring its robustness for many years to come.
