The University of Bath requires a 5-axis machining centre for machining of complex free form components made from advanced and composite materials. Machining should be achieved to an extremely high tolerance, with regard to parallelism and perpendicularity, without the need for further finishing. The quality/accuracy/surface finish achieved when machining carbon fibre composite components must be of an extremely high standard in order to support the University's world class research into Aerospace composite structures, novel materials, and machining operations.
