Description

Digital Aerial Survey of the Lesser Black-backed Gull (Larus fuscus graellsii) colony, Bowland Fells Special Protection Area (SPA) Site Code: UK9005151.

The primary aims of the survey are to:

Generate data to enable the production of a robust breeding population estimate of pairs in order to allow assessment of the Favourable Condition status and conservation objectives of this pSPA and SSSI feature; and in turn monitor the feature's current condition and the biogeographic population estimate.

Provide a baseline against which future monitoring can be compared.

Produce a map of the spatial extent of the colony.

The data will also be utilised in the development of a sampling methodology for use in future surveys.
