Description
The University of Northampton is seeking an efficient, innovative, environmentally friendly, cost and financially competitive, high quality supplier of cleaning and janitorial supplies, conducted in an environmentally sound and sustainable manner.
The University of Northampton through this exercise seeks a supplier with proven track record of excellent service delivery, positive and satisfied customers experience achieved, capable of meeting its obligations with the scope of provided guidelines while provides measured quality in its services delivered.
The University of Northampton has reaffirmed its commitment to combating climate change by pledging to becoming net zero carbon by 2030. The institution's management team has endorsed the pledge to deliver net zero carbon by 2030, which means the University needs to eliminate or offset 5,000 tonnes of carbon emissions* by the end of the decade.

As a result, University of Northampton is looking for a supplier that has the same commitment and places green initiative such as recycling cardboards, less packaging and sourcing green and eco-friendly products where possible at the heart of their operations. As such the cardboard packaging shall consist of >= 80% recycled material. Products carrying a relevant Type Eco label fulfilling the listed criteria will be deemed to comply.
The requirements of the latest revisions of the relevant EU Eco label criteria shall be met in full by those products which fall within their scope.
The Contractor shall be responsible for sourcing and delivery of the products supplies as defined and requested in the attached agreed and approved CORE/PROPOSAL list of items and The University is looking for one supplier to provide all services and not in lots. Products required are Cleaning Chemicals, Catering Chemicals, Paper Goods and Equipment
UON Required Criteria/expectations for Paper Products/Cleaning Chemicals/Agents/Dispensers are as below:
1. Paper products composition must consider requirements for minimum pipe slopes to sustain transport and disintegration of flushable products in small pipes in UON buildings and sewers to prevent blockages and environmental issues. The products need to be of such composition and quality to disintegrate rapidly in sewer systems.
2. UON preference in sourcing of paper products is for products to be ecologically sourced, sustainable, socially responsible, environmentally friendly, and recyclable where possible and be cost effective. Particular attention will be paid to quality, the environment, and also contribution towards our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy. Paper products needs to be environmentally friendly & provide excellent quality, at an affordable price.
