Description

The Coal Authority was established by Parliament to undertake specific statutory duties, set out in the Coal Industry Act 1994, associated with licensing coal mining operations; managing property and the historic legacy arising from the ownership of the coal reserves and underground workings; settling subsidence damage claims not falling on coal mine operators and providing access to coal mining information.

This requirement will be for chemostratigraphic analysis by laboratory methods principally of recovered coal measure drill cutting samples obtained from a subsidence remediation site within the Northumberland Coalfield.

Upto 300 samples will require testing. The samples will be collected and delivered to the successful contractor's laboratory by the Coal Authority.

All samples will contain recovered materials over the quoted borehole depth range amounting to 20g or more by weight. They will comprise rock types typical of the coal measures sandstones, siltstones, mudstones and some samples of coal. Some sample contamination by PFA grout and drill fluid may exist.

Please be aware that this tender exercise will be undertaken via the Coal Authority's eTender portal where all documents can be found.

Should you wish to participate in this tender exercise you need to register your company details, which will require the provision of some company information and agreement to terms and conditions to access the system. - Please follow this link to register - https://inbye.coal.gov.uk/s2c/

Should you have any difficulties with this procedure, please contact Peter Kobryn - peterkobryn@coal.gov.uk

Although the despatch, completion and return of tenders will be undertaken electronically, the Authority will issue a letter to award the contract.
