Description

Cornwall Council, as lead applicant for the Cornwall Consortium, submitted a bid on 5 June, 2015, to the Department of Energy and Climate Change ("DECC") for £1.3m of the £25m Central Heating Fund.
"The primary purpose of the Central Heating Fund is to incentivise the installation of first time central heating systems in fuel poor households who do not use mains gas as their primary heating fuel....Rural provision - ...some of the most severely fuel poor households are those without a mains gas connection in rural locations" DECC Central Heating Fund guidance.
The homes (social housing) eligible for the bid are as follows:
a recipient who is in or at risk of being in "Fuel Poverty" residing in property "G" rated;
a domestic premises (dwelling) which is not currently using gas as the primary heating fuel; and
where a "Central Heating System" would be installed for the "first time" in the property.
DECC confirmed the allocation of £1.3m to Cornwall Consortium, matched by £1m from the bid partners on 2 September 2015, to be invested by 30 June 2016.
