Description

Understanding Patient Data (UPD) is an independent initiative focused on supporting conversations with the public, patients and healthcare professionals on the transformation and innovation in the use of health data.

NHS England's is joining a number of multiple large scale credible funders (of UPD's initiatives) such as the NHS Confederation, the Welcome Medical Research Council, and the National Institute for Health and Care Research to take forward a 'what words to use' programme of work, which will produce independent guidance that can be adopted by a variety of organisations that supports NHSE to meaningfully communicate with patients and the public about uses of health data that is transparent and authentic.
