Description

The Council is seeking tenders from suitably qualified and experienced Contractors, to act as Principle Contractor and undertake the construction of a new visitor centre in Hastings Country Park.

Hastings Borough Council has had a long standing ambition to replace the current prefabricated Visitor Centre structure in Hastings Country Park with a new purpose built Centre. The new Centre would aim to enrich the visitor experience by providing inspirational interpretation to showcase the unique habitats, spectacular scenery and landscape of Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve.

The new facility will educate visitors about this unique part of the Sussex coastline, its geology, flora and fauna and local history. It has been designed to complement the beautiful natural surroundings and be as sustainable as possible.

The Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve has 345 hectares of ancient woodland, heathland and grassland together with 3 miles (5km) of dramatic cliffs and coastline. Lying within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, most of the park has been designated a Special Area of Conservation, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and has designated Local Nature Reserve status.


The successful contractor will need to demonstrate a comprehensive level of experience in the chosen construction method of Straw Bale.
