Description

The Council requires a supplier for the provision of a Sex Worker Health Needs Analysis in Birmingham. The supplier will be required to synthesize local (Birmingham) intelligence and data, gather insight from people with lived experience and frontline services, conduct a review of evidence on best practices/effective interventions and conduct rapid ethnography research. The supplier will be required to produce separate reports on completion of each element of research, and produce a comprehensive final report consolidating findings and recommendations.

The supplier will be expected to deliver a comprehensive report, with supporting PowerPoint slide deck. The report will describe the sex worker populations in Birmingham and describe their health and wellbeing needs and health inequalities, using published data and research, data and intelligence from service and stakeholder organisations alongside insight arising from engagement with sex workers themselves and the organisations and services they use.

The work will identify opportunities to prevent ill health; reduce demand and need for services; identify good practice, barriers and enablers to access, gaps in services, and clinically- and cost- effective options to meet needs. The comprehensive report will include, but not be limited to the following elements:

o A profile of sex worker populations in Birmingham. This profile will include demographic and social information of the populations of interest including cohorts within the overall group.
o A description of the health and wellbeing needs of sex workers and the extent to which these are currently met. This will include a detailed description of health and wellbeing status and need, with appropriate comparisons, using intelligence derived from the literature, analysis of available data, a description of local services alongside original data gathering and analysis.

A critical literature review of the evidence base for cost and clinically effective approaches, services and interventions that could address identified needs in Birmingham.

This contract will be for a period of 6 months commencing 1st October 2022 (estimated date subject to change, to be agreed at contracting stage).
