Description

Job Title: Health Protection Specialist x 2
Rate of Pay: £18-£21 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday or Wednesday to Sunday alternating between those cycles on a full-time basis.
Location: Remote working from home with the ability to attend council offices when required
Start Date: Immediately
Contract type and End date: initially 6 months

Summary of role and requirements:
This role requires the post holder to provide highly specialist health protection advice for the Covid response and the advice given by the post holder will result in effective management of outbreaks and incidents, affecting the community widely.

It will be essential for the post holder to work closely with the Consultant/Nurse Consultant in Public Health and have lead responsibility for health protection to deliver key Health Protection aspects of the Covid response.

The post holder will be expected to produce written documents and reports to a high standard with an understanding of requirement regarding to safeguarding, data protection and information governance.

The post holder will be expected to work on both reactive on call work and strategic work as required and directed by the Director of Public Health.

It is critical the post holder coordinates and provides accurate and timely expert advice on incidents and outbreak management in line with national and local policy and outbreak management plans. Therefore, the ability to interpret complex health protection information and data and convey it to audiences is essential.

There is an expectation of the post holder to provide oversight and participate in the rota to cover queries and outbreaks, incident management team meetings in the generic mail set up to manage our Covid response during the week, and weekends.

The post holder will represent public health on incident management team meetings and internal directorate meetings as required providing Public Health and infection Prevention and control advice and guidance.

This role will support local organisations to put health protection and Public health recommendations in place, e.g. risk assessments and to develop and maintain productive collaborations with LA and other partners including the partner PHE; public health intelligence, public health social marketing team and LA Public health teams.

The post holder will need to adapt the work programme in the face of changing public health priorities and to provide cross cover for other health protection specialists as needed.

We require the post holder to have a master's level education in Public Health / Infection Prevention / Risk Management related degree or substantial experience of working in an area of Health Protection Infection Prevention & Control.

Must be a specialist subject matter expert in health protection and the management of outbreaks.
