Description

Following the launch of NHS DPP on 22.3.2016 NHS England is seeking to explore the feasibility of using a digital delivery channel to support at risk individuals to reduce their risk of Type 2 diabetes.
Following this feasibility phase NHS England may choose to take forward a procurement.
A digital prevention programme would be separate from the current NHS DPP procurement which is based on the current evidence base for face to face interventions.
We recognise that the NHS DPP will not be suitable for all and that the intensity of time commitment required on the diabetes prevention programme may limit access in certain groups (e.g. working age people / rural communities).
As such, a digital prevention programme could potentially provide an opportunity to expand access to a wider audience in a cost-effective way.
We are keen to run an open discussion workshop with providers / developers of digital behaviour change propositions and would be particularly interested with companies that have an interest in diabetes (both prevention and structured education).
We recognise that the evidence base for effectiveness of digitally delivered behaviour change is currently limited, as part of the discussion we would be particularly interested in understanding:
- Evidence on the effectiveness of digital approaches to support behaviour change;
- The demographic of individuals that would be most likely to access services through digital channels;
- How digital channels could compliment face to face services or be used as viable alternative to face to face provision;
- How outcomes including weight and blood glucose could be accurately monitored and reported as part of a digital intervention;
- How digital approaches could be implemented and scaled.

The workshop will be held on Thursday 19 May, at the Hilton London Metropole, 225 Edgware Road London W2 1JU, where we will explore these further.

Nearest Tube Stations:
• Edgeware Road (Bakerloo) (0.1 miles)
