Description

The NMC is keen to create a framework agreement between a range of providers of lay advocacy and other professional regulators in the healthcare sector. This is a shared opportunity to provide reasonable adjustments to ensure people raising a concern or acting as a witness can participate fully and fairly in the fitness to practise process.

The lay advocacy will provide support for members of the public, who have additional needs and are involved in a complaint about a registered health professional. Advocacy may be needed at the initial complaint stage, during the investigation or at the hearing stage across the UK and Northern Ireland.
