Description
A47 / A11 Thickthorn Interchange
Galliford Try, as the East Region Delivery Partner are delivering the A47 / A11 Thickthorn Interchange project in the county of Norfolk on behalf of Highways England. The project will help relieve congestion at Thickthorn junction by providing two new free-flowing slip roads that will connect the A47 with the A11. The new slip roads will re-route traffic away from the junction and flow it under new underpasses.
The project has recently submitted a Development Consent Order to the Planning Inspectorate and the project is forecast to commence on site in early 2023 and will take around 2 years to complete.

Outline Scope of Works
The Earthworks Package consists of two parts:
Stage 1: Early Contractor Involvement. To provide technical and commercial input into the detailed design phase and to formulate the budget and programme for the works.
Stage 2: Construction. To provide all necessary supervision, labour, plant and materials required to undertake the earthworks comprising the excavation, processing, placement and compaction of site won soils and the Import of suitable fill material to form the development platform to support the new road, structures and landscaping. The contractor will also be responsible for the disposal to stockpile or off site of any unacceptable or surplus soils and other materials generated during the bulk earthworks.
