Description

Background
In June 2013, the Council embarked on an ambitious investment project to redevelop and refurbish homes at Ockford Ridge to enhance the estate for the benefit of current and future generations: this programme comprised a new build element (65 homes to be demolished; 102 new homes to be built, over 4 development sites, A, B, C and D.)

A Consent was granted (WA/2014/0932/Hybrid), followed by a new application (WA/2017/0120/ site A). The nature of the redevelopment works will entail the removal of all trees, shrubs and other surface vegetation sufficient at this stage to prevent the nesting of birds and the formation of habitats. There is urgency to these works.

Scope of works
The appointed contractor will be expected to clear all tree canopies and as much of the trunk as necessary to prevent nests and other habitats being formed. It is therefore not a requisite that stumps are ground out or removed. These works will be left for the demolition contractor to do.

Other smaller trees and shrubs together with perimeter hedging (mostly privet) will also need to be removed so that demolition works can commence later in the year without restrictions being placed on the demolition works as a result of protected species nesting and / or being on site.
