Description

Health service organisations such as WUTH are changing and evolving to meet increased demands placed upon those organisations. The increased reliance on IT services to underpin patient care has formed the basis of a revised IT network infrastructure strategy. This strategy will ensure the trust employs the correct technology to provide the enhanced service, security and IT functional capability required of a "digital hospital" patient care delivery model.

In order to provide WUTH with the tools required to meet these demands the Trust requires an infrastructure that is:

• Future proofed providing the capabilities for VOIP, Video and collaboration strategies for next generation working
• Resilient and highly available ensuring the impact of any hardware failure is minimized
• Cheaper to operate i.e. reduced power requirements
• Easier to manage in order to increase IT operation efficiencies
• Scalable ensuring the network can adapt to changing Trust requirements

At the centre of any next generation medical IT application architecture is the infrastructure; more specifically the data centre.

The data centre is the enabler for all of the above. The service is both bound and enabled by the technology foundation that underpins it. For Trusts such as WUTH that require next generation technology to provide the patient care agility and application delivery required to support this goal, the leading network vendors can now provide a suite of proven technologies to ensure WUTH can offer an enhanced level of IT service today, while enabling greater and more powerful applications harnessing the power of IP Voice, Video and Collaboration tomorrow.
