Notice of forthcoming procurement to refurbish two Manipulator arms currently in operation on Sellafield sites. The following details outline how Sellafield intend for the work to be done, subject to potential minor amendments within the final published tender
The Manipulators are to be refurbished such that they can support current operational demands and future proof for a potential extended operation of 25 years.
The aim of the Manipulator refurbishment project is to refurbish 2 off Manipulators currently in operation within WEP.
Current operations within WEP are being extended to circa 2045 and the 2 off Manipulators are to be refurbished such that they can support future missions planned across the plant.
The scope of the refurbishments covers the 2 off Manipulators (including the connections to the ETOC Crane), masts and associated cabling, the crane down-shop junction box (manipulator interface only), control desks, Manipulator's control panels, and opportunities to interface with equipment such as size reduction tooling, in cell equipment, and camera equipment.
All items outside of this scope of work are considered fit for purpose, with no maintenance required.
All equipment installed as part of this refurbishment must be compatible with current WEP manipulators systems and tooling and be warranted for in cell operations.
Supply Chain partners are sought that possess or can evidence progression towards: -

• Demonstrable experience of designing and installing manipulator / robotic systems (Mech & CE&I).
