Description
Milton Keynes Council intend to issue tenders to Heritage building contractors for the refurbishment of Bradwell Abbey Farmhouse. It is Listed Grade II and is thought to contain parts of the medieval abbey which was originally founded in the twelfth century. The site itself is a Scheduled Ancient monument and the adjacent Chapel which contains medieval wall paintings is currently undergoing repair.
Building contractors are asked to express interest in the project which will involve detailed surveying of the existing fabric and subsequent repair of any defects identified and alterations to create office accommodation.
The contractors will be required to:
• demonstrate experience with working on Grade I and II buildings.
• demonstrate past experience of working with an accredited conservation specialist who has experience including conserving wall paintings some of which are thought to be concealed within the fabric.
