Description
Eldene - Landscape Refurbishment
Swindon Borough Council invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced service providers for the provision of hard and soft landscape works (inc. clearance works, replacement paving, planting, street furniture, lighting and metal fencing).
Project Description
This is a landscape refurbishment scheme of the existing public realm immediately surrounding the Eldene community centre and pedestrian entrance to Eldene Primary School in Eldene, to the east of Swindon. A former district centre shopping parade building was demolished some years ago opposite the core project area, and the site of the centre capped with aggregate (known locally as the 'beach'). The primary focus of the main works is centered on the area peripheral to the 'beach' area itself, which support a number of community facilities.
The scope of the Eldene landscape refurbishment works include:
- Refurbishment of existing planting beds, replacing growing medium and planting, creation of new planting areas and edging retention
- Replacement of an area of existing hard surfaces surrounding the school gate and the gate itself
- Filling in an existing sunken hard paved space locally known as 'the bear pit' to create a new lawn
- Removal of lengths of existing retaining walling, whilst safeguarding the retained section of walling not removed, re-profiling the banks exposed by walling removal to grade, to create an improved public realm experience less dominated by structures
- Replacement street lighting
- Replacement street furniture
- The creation of a new enclosed garden for the Community Centre, with a feature pathway, lawn, planting, installation of a new outside tap, amenity lighting including bollard and feature festoon lighting and metal fencing.
Suppliers are invited to tender a price for creating a soil / grassed open space to cover the 'beach' area, to create an amenity green space, which will be included in the works if budget permits.
Suppliers are also invited to tender for maintenance of the softworks, for a period of two years post practical completion. Please note the hardworks and lighting will remain within the construction contract rectification period for twelve months post practical completion, and not form part of this maintenance agreement. If the Maintenance contract is not entered into, the softworks will revert to the contractual rectification period of 12 months.
Full details relating to the Works are provided in the tender documents.
To participate, Suppliers will need to Register as a Supplier with ProContract, www.supplyingthesouthwest.org.uk, then Register an Interest before obtaining access to the tender documents. In the event of difficulties registering as a supplier, please refer to the System Administrator Proactis support team ProContractSuppliers@proactis.com
Contract Period
The construction period will be for a period of 10 weeks only, commencing no later than Mon 30th November 2020 as stated
