Description
Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust are looking for expressions of interest in the following:- Authorised Fire Engineer
Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust provides wide-ranging NHS care for people in the community, in a range of settings including people's own homes; nursing homes; health clinics; community hospitals; minor injury units; a walk-in centre and in mobile units.
We are one of the largest NHS community health providers in England, serving a population of about 1.4 million. We employ over 5,500 staff, including doctors, community nurses, physiotherapists, dieticians and many other healthcare professionals.
Background to the requirement
As directed by Health Technical Memorandum 05-01, Managing healthcare fire safety, KCHFT has a dedicated Fire Safety Group. The group will be led by KCHFT's Fire Safety Manager with the support of an external authorising fire engineer (AE). The purpose of this agreement is to appoint an AE to assist with policy, set up of Fire Safety group and ratify the appointment of the Trust's AP.
Requirement of the Trust
An initial high level compliance review will need to be undertaken by the awarded supplier, taking an initial snapshot of the Trust systems to ascertain current levels of fire safety compliance against the HTMs managing fire safety in health care premises and the Regulatory Reform Order (Fire) 2005. The review should include:-
1. Current Policies and Procedures.
2. PPM shortfalls
3. Resource
4. Current levels of compliance systems for Fire safety
In Scope (based on a 3 year contract):-
• Annual audit of 2 No nominated sites fire risk assessment and PPMs.
• Annual risk-based report on findings above with executive conclusions & recommendations.
• 1 x Compliance visit and Audit Report of the remaining sites over a 3 yearly period.
• Assessment, review and recommendation for Appointment of proposed Authorised Persons.
• Free to service technical support by telephone and email (detailed document checks and other works requiring attendance over 1 hour to be charged at agreed rate).
• Adhoc advice/attendance on specific projects as and when required.
