Description

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary are wishing to engage with the market to determine if there is currently a vehicle suitable to meet the needs of their Protest Removal Team, or a vehicle that could be converted to meet their needs.

The team are required to travel throughout the Country to safely remove protestors from a variety of environments and situations if they are committing offences. The team currently use a sprinter van, and tow a trailer. This approach is no longer fit for purpose. The team seek to understand other approaches to meet their needs.

The team carry a large amount of equipment. This is currently stored in the sprinter van and the trailer on racking systems.

The team would like to hear from any organisation that would have the capabilities and capacity to support their requirements.

Currently the thoughts are for the new vehicle to meet the following requirements:
A single vehicle capable of
• Transporting a crew of 5 to 7 police officers with kit.
• Minimum 240v power
• Equipment payload of 1000kg using accessible racking systems
• Capability of safe working from the vehicle roof, for at least 3 persons
• Vehicle will need full Electronic warning equipment
• Capability of 80 mph

The vehicle requires:
• A minimum of 24 months whole vehicle warranty.
• A minimum of 240 months for specialist body and substructure.
• A minimum of 36 months for alternative systems driveline.
• A minimum of 36 months for bodybuilder can-bus/electrical systems


Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary (HIOWC) is keen to build ideas and concepts surrounding their approach to this conversion.
