Description
The Launchpad programme is a £4m, three year, part ESIF funded programme, designed to increase the business stock in the Sheffield City Region (SCR) through the provision of pre start, start up and post start support. The programme is being delivered by by a consortium led by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (BMBC) with delivery partners, Sheffield City Council is a delivery partner along with Rotherham Borough Council, Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, Bassetlaw District Council, Derbyshire Dales District Council and the Prince's Trust. Funding is provided by each delivery partner, the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Sheffield City Region Combined Authority.
The programme is targeting economic growth through initiatives to develop entrepreneurial mind sets and skills to promote self-employment as a career option, and to equip individuals with the entrepreneurial knowledge, technical skills and competencies required to establish and run successful businesses. There is a perceived barrier to achieving and surpassing the VAT threshold of £85,000 for some early stage and smaller businesses that are close to that level of turnover.
We are looking for an organisation that would support a cohort of businesses whose turnover is currently less than £85,000 but are close to the threshold to do two things:
• Masterclasses covering all aspects of VAT in relation to becoming VAT registered. Demistifying the quirky rules surrounding VAT. Provide businesses with knowledge about the obligations, thresholds and when to register, compulsory or voluntary registration and flat rate versus cash accounting schemes.
• Followed by one to one growth business support for those businesses who are close to the VAT threshold. Working with the business to grow it significantly enough to surpass the threshold amount of £85,000 so that the businesses profit is not affected negatively.
