Description
Selston High School is eligible for the DFE Connect the Classroom scheme. The DfE Connect the Classroom programme aims to provide the school with a comprehensive wireless networking solution that covers wireless access points.
Selston School currently has an Arube Chassis Core swich and is currently having Zyxel edge switching installed, running a minimum of a 10GB link to each cabinet. The current Wifi provision is supplied by Ruckus. The Wifi is now quite old and is out of support/licencing. Coverage is generally adequate although some areas are weak. Speed is generally ok although some areas are slow. Most cabinets have POE provision. Cabling is currently cat5e and Cat6 to the AP's.
The Main objective of this project is to provide good wireless coverage and speed to allow wireless technologies to be used effectively to enhance teaching and learning for students.
