Description

Essex County Council is putting in place a Contract for the Provision of Body Removal Services for H.M. Coroner for Essex.

The Contract will be divided into 22 LOTS - each LOT corresponds to a geographical area within Essex. Suppliers may tender for any number of geographical areas and bids will be evaluated separately for each area.

The Contract is for the transportation of deceased persons from the place of death to an appropriate mortuary. There may be occasions where there will be a requirement for the deceased to be transported to a specialist centre for a post mortem examination. Suppliers must be available at all times to attend to the removal of a body or bodies. Such collections will be required from anywhere within the geographical location of Essex, including open spaces, difficult locations, houses, other accommodation, railway, water and sites on/or adjacent to the public highway.

No exclusivity is intended or granted in relation to any Area under this Contract, and the Council reserves the right to make any arrangements for the handling of bodies as it is deemed appropriate in any LOT, and on an incident by incident basis.

The estimated value of the Contract is £136,000 per annum split across the 22 LOTS, however no guarantee of removals or collections is intended or given under this Contract.

The contract is for an initial period of 2 years with an option to extend by up to a further 2 years.
