Description

The Council seeks Tenders for the construction of improvement works on Old Christchurch Road/Beale Place, Bournemouth.
The works will include:
• Removal of kerbing, various street furniture including illuminated/non-illuminated signs and bollards. Some items will require electrical connections/Disconnections and Transfers.
• Removal of brick and concrete plinths
• Take up block paving and relay in new locations.
• Removal of footway and carriageway to average depths of 380mm.
• The installation of pipework, slot drains and gullies and the associated connection works.
• Replacing existing utility manhole covers with recessed covers and installation of duct boxes and chambers.
• Ducting, cabling and electrical works.
• Full depth carriageway construction with resin bound gravel surface course in various colours and patterns.
• Installation of street furniture including benches, bollards, illuminated and non-illuminated signs, sign posts, lanterns, and cycle stands.
• Planting of trees and plants in various pots.
Please also note the following:
• Cellars and cellar lights known are identified within the Contract Drawings. Extra care is to be taken when excavating in these areas.
• Tram lines may be found during excavation works. These and the surrounding concrete may need to be removed if found.
• Temporary works will be required to complete some features.
• The Contractor will be expected to co-ordinate, and accommodate all electric and utility works within their programme.
• The area of works is within the Town Centre and there are numerous shops, businesses and residential properties. Key features of these works will be in regard to traffic management measures required on the highway for both traffic and pedestrians. Details of the requirements, permissions and constraints are included within the Specifications.
