Brief Description of the Works

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Regulatory Delivery Directorate is the competent authority responsible for enforcing the EU Timber Regulation within the United Kingdom. This Regulation makes it an offence to place illegal timber or timber products on the EU market

Suppliers are strongly encouraged to read the text at the following link in order to gain a full understanding of the role of the enforcement services within Government:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/national-regulation-enforcement-services

BEIS will carry out Isotope product verification project to establish the origin of up to 150 samples of timber/timber based products, with an option to increase or decrease by 30 samples. This may include composite products such as MDF.
Tenders are invited for testing according to the requirements detailed below.

The project will be conducted, with testing carried out over a 10 month period to commence on 01/05/2017 and to be completed by 28/02/2018, with an option to extend to 31/03/2018.
Suppliers must state the maximum capacity in terms of number of samples and type of analysis that can be guaranteed to be analysed and reported by the completion date. As the completion date is not negotiable, should the most favourable bid have insufficient capacity to complete all testing, the remainder will be awarded to the next best compliant bid.
Below are details (type of product, type of timber, number of samples and type of analysis) for each project followed by some generic information and requirements.
• Mixture of timber and origins
• 150 samples
• Isotope - chemical composition Analysis
• Near Infra-Red (NIR) analysis

Full specification details are available in the ITQ

All of the works are to be completed in line with the specification.
