Description
The 25 Year Environment Plan (25YEP) set out the Government's ambition to leave the natural environment in a better state than we inherited it. It also set out the Government's commitment to publish a Chemicals Strategy to support the sound management of chemicals.
This project will analyse and assess literature relevant to the themes and priorities identified and will evaluate the key risks and opportunities to the UK, considering the entirety of the chemical lifecycle.
The chemical lifecycle covers sourcing, manufacturing of chemicals, use of those chemicals in making products, retail, end of life, recycling, reuse. It also links to circular economy, (radioactive chemicals are not in scope).
The outputs of this project will contribute to Defra's work to set the direction of the Chemicals Strategy and highlight where Government can most effectively support and encourage positive outcomes, and intervene, where necessary, to mitigate negative ones. All outputs of the project need to be clear, concise, and directed at a policy audience.
