Description

The University of Sheffield is out to tender on behalf of the Faculty of Engineering - Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, for a Chemical Pilot Plant.

The closing date for return of Pre-qualification Questionnaires is Monday 4th April 2016 at 12 noon (GMT)

The Diamond Pilot Plant (DiPP) will be the cornerstone for the education of The Sheffield Chemical Engineer. Future engineers will use, test and explore integrated processes with state of the art simulations and world class control systems in a safe, product oriented environment. They will develop as engineers immersed in physical and virtual systems that address some of the key grand challenges of this century: Energy and climate change, affordable medicines, and bioengineered products.

Chemical Product Engineering: Traditionally chemical engineers are process engineers. 21th century chemical engineers need to be both product and process engineers who develop new products, as well as design the processes that manufacture them. DiPP is a unique learning environment for product as well as process engineering, where students learn to develop, characterize and reverse engineer new products for high value manufacturing, biotechnology, and clean fuels.

Lot 1- Power to X pilot plant to convert renewable energy to environmentally friendly diesel fuel
Lot 2 - High value manufacturing - continuous manufacture of pharmaceutical solid oral dosage forms
Lot 3 - Industrial Control room
