Description

The University of Southampton has seen an ongoing uplifted success in recent years with the acquiring of continuing research works and projects.

As a result of the continuing research works, the University has a need to purchase a laboratory based profilometry system to be used for the assessment of tribological and mechanical system surfaces for research purposes.

This tender requirement is for a Profilometer, The system needs to be capable of performing basic profilometry measurements to analyse both form and roughness on surfaces and enable the assessment of volume (wear) loss from surfaces. The samples from the EPSRC project will be flat plates from TE77 reciprocating tribometer, but also flat and crowned cylinders of 10 mm width and 40 mm diameters from a twin roller machine (TE74). Analysis of the flat plate should be minimum standard, while the challenges of measuring curved surfaces will be considered.

This tender Specification is for the purchase of the Initial Good that meets the Specification Appendix 1: Specification.
