Description

The Council is currently preparing a new Local Plan, to be called the Bassetlaw Plan. Public consultation on the Initial Draft Bassetlaw Plan took place between October and December 2016. This document included the option of developing a new settlement in rural Bassetlaw, to help address Bassetlaw's housing need.

It is now necessary to consider whether suitable sites are available in the District for the development of a new 'garden village' settlement. This study will assess a number of sites for their suitability, considering issues such as environmental constraints, infrastructure and service provision, and financial viability.

The Study will make recommendations on whether any sites could sustainably and viably accommodate such a development, including producing an urban design concept diagram for sites that may be suitable.

The recommendations will inform the next stage of the Bassetlaw Plan. Those bidding will therefore need to demonstrate that they have the skills and resources to carry out the work to a tight timetable, with a completion deadline of October 2017.
