Description

1799/344/MY/NAMRC/17 Hot-wire laser cladding equipment

The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for Hot Wire Laser Cladding Equipment on behalf of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, Castings Group at Catcliffe, South Yorkshire.

Scope of Requirement

This procurement is for the delivery, installation and commissioning of equipment to support the upgrade of the existing diode laser facility at the Nuclear AMRC, Brunel Way, Catcliffe, Rotherham, UK to enable process development of the manufacturing of key elements of nuclear components.
The current existing setup at the Nuclear AMRC consists of a Laserline Diode Laser LDF15000-100 with a maximum power of 15kW. The manipulation of the process head is provided by a gantry mounted Kuka robot (5 axis + 1 gantry axis) type: KR60 L30 JET. The maximum load to be lifted by the robot is 60kg. All components have been delivered and integrated by GTV Impex GmbH.
The equipment specification defined here is aimed at establishing laser hot wire-cladding capabilities capable of cladding at high speed, defect free, with low dilution, thin single layers of stainless steel and Ni based alloys. The equipment should be able to allow hot wire cladding of horizontal surfaces (ASME IX 1G) and also surfaces that deviate from this orientation, including vertical walls (ASME IX 2G, 3G) or equivalent specifications where applicable.
