Description

Southend Museums Service are proposing to upgrade the environmental monitoring and control systems currently in use within the 5 sites that make up the service.
The Company providing such a system should be an established, recognised and trusted supplier with a reliable and tested system. They should be listed in the Museums Association Directory of Suppliers - this ensures we are abiding by the national standards of care set out for museums and galleries.
The Company should be able to supply and install both an environmental monitoring system (radio-telemetric) and an environmental control system. Both systems must be extremely accurate and reliable. Control systems should have the ability to maintain Relative Humidity levels ideally below 20% and no more than 30% for a proposed archaeological metals store which requires a stable environment with minimal variations.
The system must accurately monitor, RH, temperature, UV and Lux levels and be robust, yet discreet in order to be unobtrusive within the museum service's buildings and galleries.
The system must provide flexibility and have options for individual showcase monitoring with transmitters that record RH, Temperature, Lux and UV in one unit; LCD screens on individual transmitters to allow spot checks to be carried out and they must afford us the capability of moving the transmitters around the galleries as necessary.
The Company would ideally be geographically located close to our region (Essex) and provide us with a dedicated calibration / maintenance service and full user-training and continuing technical support.

When submitting your quote please email these to clairereed@southend.gov.uk. Please set out what technology/system you're offering and also clarity as to what maintenance is on offer. Please make it clear what the associated costs are for each element of this service.
