Description

The National Audit Office recommends that the Boards of government departments and public sector bodies undertake annual effectiveness surveys, and that every third year this should be an external review. Such a review will look at the Board's role in terms of leadership, effectiveness, accountability; its behaviours including adherence to the Nolan Principles and Civil Service code; its advice, strategic clarity, commercial sense and results focus; the effectiveness of its committees; and the quality of key working relationships.
