Description

The Council wishes to engage with an artist or artists with a vision for developing the area to the east of the Casson Block as a location for public art.

Drawing on the history and character of the area and the wider city, and shaped by the involvement of local businesses and residents, the artwork should ideally have a local connection.

The outcome should be a highly visible public art work or works for St George's Street which will establish a memorable identity or landmark for the street. The final works will need to be of a permanent nature (textiles will be expected to be durable for 5 years). The work should be designed with minimal ongoing maintenance requirements and costs.

St George's Street is in a conservation area and any works will need to take
this into consideration in terms of design and positioning. The proposals should take into account the potential need to obtain planning consent, and meet other regulatory requirements.
