Description

Birmingham City Council requires a supplier for the Provision of a PSV Vehicle Inspector. This contract will be for a period of 2 years commencing 1st November 2021 until 31st October 2023, with an option to extend for an additional 12 months, dependant on the requirement of the service and performance of the supplier.

Birmingham City Council (the Council) is looking to source a fully qualified PSV Vehicle Inspector to carry out scheduled and spot check inspections on behalf of the Council. The inspections will check the roadworthiness of the Contractors vehicles under the Council's Transport Framework, in line with the guidelines laid down by the Driving Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Guide to maintaining vehicle roadworthiness (for commercial vehicles and Public Service Vehicles (PSV's) and the core specification of the Transport Framework.
Vehicles to be inspected include both wheelchair accessible and non-wheelchair accessible Public Service Vehicles (PSV's).

The person the Council is seeking must be technically competent and operationally aware of the safety standards that apply to the vehicles they examine. They should been trained in the techniques of vehicle examination, diagnosis and reporting, and possess a sound working knowledge of the relevant inspection manuals produced by DVSA.

The Council anticipates that inspections will be carried out two to three times per month, therefore the successful Provider will need to be available for those periods of time; indicative dates will be agreed at mobilisation stage for the successful provider.
