Description
To install, maintain and resupply of a system providing hydrogen fuel to cars, ideally using green, renewable fuel at locations around the UK. System to be easily deployable, without significant reliance on infrastructure. If the initial unit trial is successful, it would be widened to include several UK dispersed locations using a 3 phased approach. First phase would be to test the concept at one location using a handful of cars completing a limited mileage. Phase two would expand the trial with an additional site and phase three would be an uplift to 3-5 sites. Trial to be limited to time (approx. 6mths).
The Defence Support Team, part of Strategic Command within the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD), wish to inform potential suppliers of an intended procurement to acquire services of a suitably skilled and qualified supplier to undertake a trial for hydrogen storage and associated refuelling equipment. Equipment must be readily available and have the capability to provide refuelling capability using renewable hydrogen if possible, for commercially available vehicles. Initial trial would be to recharge approx. 2 cars, although this could be amended depending on the availability of vehicles. This RFI Notice has been published, as an initial enquiry only, to obtain information from potential suppliers and/or independent experts to develop a robust requirement and procurement/commercial strategy. This RFI is not a commitment to launch a formal procurement procedure or to ask potential suppliers to express an interest in the requirement.
Context Brief: This system is being investigated to gain experience in the use and storage of hydrogen as a fuel. The viability of hydrogen vehicles is being investigated meet MOD Net Zero policy and future fleet considerations.
