Description

In England, we are committed to reviewing and consulting on measures such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for fishing gear in the 2018 Resources and Waste Strategy, to ensure that fishing gear that is no longer fit for purpose is disposed of correctly and prevented from polluting the ocean. We have also committed, through the British-Irish Council, to working with other administrations, and with industry, to develop solutions for the collection and recycling of end-of-life fishing gear.

To meet our Resources & Waste Strategy commitments, this evidence project will build our understanding of the current market for fishing gear in England. It will also define and analyse policy options such as EPR and include an economic assessment of the different options.
