Description

Check in screens at GP practices provides the ability for patients to check in for their GP practice appointments within the local practices clinical system.

In order to comply with 2018/19 Addendum to the GP IT Operating Model. CCGs must ensure that desktop hardware, operating systems and applications meet locally agreed Warranted Environment Specification (WES) requirements, which as a minimum, should meet the national WES, the relevant GP Systems of Choice (GPSoC) clinical system requirements and the GP IT Infrastructure Specification (under review). There must be effective patch, upgrade and asset management arrangements in place for operating systems and applications. The development of a local WES will identify those operating systems, browsers and software applications necessary for the safe and functional operation of the principal GPSoC clinical systems and national NHS applications used by practices locally.

East Berkshire CCG have a number of check-in screens across the GPIT estate. In order to improve cyber security and mitigate security risks a number of devices on windows XP will need to be replaced. In addition, there are a number of devices which will need to be upgraded from Windows 7.

The CCG will need to upgrade and or replace the current Check-in screens to windows 10 operating system and ensure that moving forward Antivirus and Patch management is managed in order to meet national guidelines.
