Description
Dorset County Hospital are tendering for the provision of a HD Renal Satellite unit in the East Dorset area. The Unit is to be staffed and operated by the contractor. The Second Lot is for a Home Haemodialysis Service to be run from the Satellite Unit. The Trust reserves the right to award the contract in whole, in part, or not at all.
Lot-1 The Dorset renal service currently provides haemodialysis from 2 acute hospital sites operated and staffed by Dorset County Hospital and satellite units in Poole, Yeovil and Bournemouth operated and staffed by alternative providers alongside an expanding home haemodialysis service. DCHFT are tendering for a replacement satellite haemodialysis unit for the current facility in Poole to support the Trusts renal strategy going forwards. The contract basis will be charged on a price per treatment and will be operated and staffed by the successful bidder. The renal satellite unit service will operate in a "hub and spoke" model with Dorset County Hospital forming the hub. The unit will provide the capacity to ensure that patients who can safely be dialysed off the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site can be accommodated in a clinically safe environment.
Lot 2- The Dorset Renal Service opened in April 1996, since which time the service has grown in that now it provides 305 patients receiving haemodialysis at a centre, and 49 patients receiving home therapy. The volumes opting for home therapy, peritoneal dialysis or home haemodialysis are lower than desired and we would wish to increase this to a minimum 100 patients receiving home therapy by 2025. We anticipate that the demand for dialysis will grow by 2% per annum over the next 5 years. We require a contractor to support a minimum of 12% of our haemodialysis population home by 2021. The purpose of this lot is for a contractor to assess, train, review and support patients at home with the support of our Renal team clinicians where needed. This pathway is an important and integrated part of the renal service delivery.
