Description

Wiltshire Council is looking for a Contractor to undertake the following scheme which comprises: the removal of the existing roundabout at the Windsor Drive Junction, realignment of the junction to accommodate a left hand turn lane from Windsor Drive. The installation of a MOVA based controller system and detector loops set into the carriageways, associated signage and road markings, reconstruction of the carriageway and footways, installation of drainage and the replacement of street lights.
The successful Contractor will be required to engage the Councils Traffic Signals Contractor Telent as a Nominated Sub Contractor, to carry out the installation of the traffic signals equipment.

This route is highly traffic sensitive and the contractor will be expected to manage all traffic management associate with the works including liaison with the Council's Streetworks team. Any road closures must be undertaken at night, and temporary traffic signals must be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm. The contractor will be expected to work 7 days a week, between 7am and 10pm.

Utility companies and statutory providers own and maintain equipment in and around the vicinity of the works. It is the intention that any necessary diversions of this equipment will be undertaken prior to commencement of these tendered works on site. However if any diversion work is required concurrently with the main works, then the contractor will be required to co-ordinate and accommodate the work by others in to their works.
Particular care must be taken when working near apparatus to ensure they are not damaged. The Contractor is responsible for checking the site for the exact location and depths of any apparatus (including overhead services), as well as checking for any unknown services.

The contractor will be expected to carry out all communication associated with the works, This will include but not be limited to keeping the public, the client, local businesses and other stakeholders informed of potential delays, timings of key activities and diversions through regular communications on the progress of works, using suitable media such as signage, letter drops, web sites and the press etc...
