The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) is an institute of the UK's Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and is the focal point for UK Antarctic research and operations. BAS conducts research on polar ice sheets and mountain glaciers with a remit to understand better changing glacial systems and their effect on global sea levels and fresh water resources.
BAS require a service including the design (with FAA DER Review and Approval), build and flight-testing of a helicopter-borne instrument platform that meets airworthiness requirements for sling-load operations, with the end product being a flight-ready platform for deployment over valley glaciers in high-mountain Asia (suitable for use in Nepal, India, Pakistan).
The contract will be awarded based on the criteria set out on the sourcing documents.
