Description
Building of particular architectural or historical interest Listed Grade 1. The project involves the conservation of the nationally significant wall paintings within the church, lime washing walls affected by wall paintings, the installation of a lighting scheme and fire alarm plus various improvements and repairs. The value of the project which has the benefit of a HLF grant is the area of £200k which includes the work of the wall paintings conservator who will be acting as a named contractor value of his work in the area of £80k. The work is to commence in May 2017 and the contact period to be agreed in the area of 20 weeks. Tenders are to be sought from contractors with experience of managing and undertaking specialist conservation contracts.

The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement. The Contractor must be CITB registered, have experience of working on Heritage Lottery Funded and administered projects with English Heritage oversight and must have extensive and recent experience in the conservation of Medieval ecclesiastical buildings and particularly the use of lime mortars, lime washing and the installation of lighting schemes.
